Yoga & Mindfulness Practices

Mindfulness is often talked about as a way to noti Mindfulness is often talked about as a way to notice difficult thoughts, emotions and patterns more clearly.

And it is useful for that.

But it is also a way of noticing the good things more clearly.

The sky can be dark and life can feel heavy at times — but there can still be moments of beauty right in the middle of it.

Sometimes mindfulness is simply the practice of not missing those moments.

A rainbow.
A kind word.
A deep breath.
A warm cup of tea.
A small pocket of calm in an otherwise messy day.

It doesn’t make the hard things disappear, but it can help us remember that the hard things are not the whole picture.

Yoga is part of my practice, but its not the whole Yoga is part of my practice, but its not the whole story. 
Some days it's lifting weights. 
Somwdays it's running trails. 
Somedays it's getting into ice cold water. 
Different practices teach me different things. 
Strength training reminds me that capacity can be built. 
Running reminds me that I can keep going, one step at a time. 
Cold water reminds me that discomfort is not always danger. 
Yoga and mindfulness remind me to listen, adjust and come back to myself. 
I do not believe we need one perfect practice. 
I think we need a toolkit - different ways to move, breathe, challenge ourselves, steady ourselves and stay connected to the body we are living in. 
Real bodies. Real life.

Someone who helps you show up, keeps you accountable, and makes the process feel a little lighter. 
Movement and mindfulness do not have to be solitary. Sometimes the best practice is having someone beside you - to share the learning, notice the progress, laugh through the wobbles, and remind you to keep coming back. 
Start where you are. Bring a friend if you can.
